Emperors Palace is a Peermont resort and it welcomes all to experience true luxury, excitement, and entertainment. Peermont Hotels, Casinos, and Resorts is an award-winning hospitality and entertainment company that operates 12 properties located across South Africa and Botswana, as well as the online sports and entertainment betting site PalaceBet.

Striving to always offer relaxing stays and exciting times, Peermont is renowned for its excellence in design, development, management, ownership, and operation of multi-faceted hospitality and gaming facilities.

Working Context - Once a brief is submitted by the relevant manager, it's discussed in the team meeting. The concept and deadline are established and I begin working on the poster. Lightboxes are scattered around the complex so poster-size artwork is sent for approval once the first draft is complete. Once the poster is signed off, I begin the design roll-out; social media elements, e-mailers, web elements, pull-up banners, banner walls, VIP passes, etc. Anything that the event required.

My Responsibility - I was responsible for creating visually appealing and effective designs that communicate messages, ideas, or brand identities across various mediums, both print and digital. My work required a combination of artistic creativity, technical skills, and a deep understanding of design principles and layout.

Design Department - With over 12 properties to cover, designs were created from the provided concepts. There are 4 different categories that we designed for entertainment, food and beverage, hotel, and casino. I worked with a team of 4 other designers and a copywriter, we each had properties to maintain visually.

The design rollout process requires careful planning, coordination, and attention to detail to ensure that the design concept is effectively communicated and consistently applied across all touchpoints, ultimately achieving the desired branding or marketing goals.

Food & Beverage Roll-Out

The design is officially launched and rolled out across all relevant channels and materials. This may involve a coordinated release of marketing materials, updating websites and social media profiles, and distributing printed materials.

In-house design elements included; lightbox posters, on-floor screen design, social media and web layouts.

General design elements included; banners, billboards, contravision, roll-up banners, gazebos, parasols, merchandise, etc.

Food Truck Vehicle Branding

Chef Simon first realized his passion for the food truck business in 2014, when he would use his brother's mobile kitchen trailer to cook and sell food at food markets and festivals for extra cash.

After applying for funding and showing the utmost determination to see his dream become a reality, Simon was offered an R500 000 enterprise development loan to purchase a fully-equipped, top-of-the-line food truck, bringing The Gourmet Chariot to life.

I was privileged to have designed this branding.

Casino & Gaming Roll-Out

Designing artwork for the World Poker Tour (WPT) involves creating visually compelling graphics that capture the excitement, prestige, and sophistication of the tournament.

I had been working on WPT for a few years and when I received the brief, I started to think about what makes poker exciting, such as the thrill of competition, the elegance of the game, and the allure of winning big.

I consider dark, rich colors that are often associated with the game. Create a visually balanced layout that guides the viewer's eye through the artwork. When designing artwork for a prestigious event like the World Poker Tour requires attention to detail, creativity, and a deep understanding of the brand and its audience.

This top-level roll-out includes; an Airport Welcome Board, Access Cards, Information Standees, Theatre Door Artwork, Various Sized Billboards, Car Windshield Contravision, Theatre Hanging Banners, Street Pole Adverts, Floor Map, Cash Desk Arch, Lightbox Posters, Casino Floor Screen Video, Social Media and Web Layouts.

Miscellaneous

A voucher booklet with various discounts on hotel, restaurant, and spa deals at various Peermont resorts and casinos. A basic layout that's consistent throughout the booklet, colour changes for different sections.

Win a Jackpot of R5000 or more on any slot machine on the main casino floor and earn a Golden Ticket into a draw. I created 2 designs; one for Black Card members and the other for casino patrons. The ticket is divided into 3 parts; left stub is for the casino staff, the middle section is for the winner to fill out and place in the competition box and the Golden Ticket part is for the patron to keep.

Gladiators of the Ring Boxing Booklet

Designing a boxing booklet can be a fun and creative project, especially when I'm a fan of the sport. The purpose of the booklet is a collection of the fights between 2018 and 2019, the original design from the promotional poster, photos of the fights, and the results.

2020 - Covid-19 Pandemic

Designing artwork during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 presented unique challenges. Certain symbols and objects became iconic during the pandemic, such as face masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. Ultimately, designing artwork during the COVID-19 pandemic was a way to use simple imagery to convey hope during a difficult time.
